Bonnar Engineering Ltd. was founded in the year 1959 and began its
foray into the steel business with the manufacture of gates and
railings, electric welding and general repairs. The business was
originally set up at Ballymacool, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal and the
fabrication and erection of structural steelwork, incorporating
portal frames, trusses, purlins, sheeting, cladding, gutters and
insulation, quickly became the main thrust of the business. Due
to a substantial expansion in trade it became necessary to move
to a new, larger premises at Pearse Road, Letterkenny, in 1974.
At this stage the company had become renowned for it's expertise
in structural steelwork and rapidly built up an excellent reputation
in this field. Business was thriving as many new factories and buildings
were springing up throughout North-West Ireland and this continuous
growth in the company led to another expansion in 1982 to make room
for an ever increasing demand. Another expansion was necessary in
1997 and the achievement of ISO9002 accreditation in 1995 ensured
that the company's large niche in the local market was further protected
and developed.Ê
Quality of products and services was always been considered a very
